Ivy Block

This medicine is a lotion that must be applied to the skin BEFORE entering poison oak, ivy or sumac. It uses a protective ingredient called Bentoquatam to shield the skin from the harmful effects of urushiol.

This is a preventative medicine used only to shield the skin from getting poison oak, ivy or sumac in the first place. Once a person has come into contact with the plants and gotten urushiol on their skin, ivy block will do nothing to stop the rash.
